On October 23rd Wissahickon High School hosted their annual bonfire in the student lot off of Dager Road. The bonfire burned from 5pm to 8pm, and it was a great way to show school spirit! Similar to years previous, there was lots to look forward to like food trucks from Wrap and Roll, From the Boot, and Mister Softie. They made an appearance for participants to grab a bite to eat. These food trucks returned to the event, as they were there last year and were a huge hit with both students, families, and staff. Families loved to enjoy the food, see friends, and watch the fire blaze into the sky. Not to worry, there were fire fighters at the event to ensure everyone’s safety.
After last year’s bonfire, the student council hoped to expand even more and they included the whole district in the festivities. This year there was the addition of lawn games and performances by the high school cheerleaders and marching band to include Wissahickon’s own talent. Corinne Hoover (‘28), a sophomore who attended last year’s bonfire said, “It was so much fun, I enjoyed eating the food and watching them light then put out the fire…I had a great time hanging out with friends and my little brother!” The bonfire was bigger, better and filled with more excitement than we’ve ever seen before. If anybody wasn’t able to make it this year, make sure to plan for next since there’s no better way to get into the fall spirit than watching the world’s largest campfire ignite.
