The room slowly fills with bodies as people trickle in through the double-doored entrances. Lights shine on the stage, conversations scatter through the room, and students shift in their seats. Welcome to Wissahickon’s Town Hall, a club meant to be led and driven by students.
Town Hall is almost exactly what it sounds like, an opportunity for the public—namely the students—to use their voice to contribute to the school happenings. By showing up to the meetings, students can discuss anything from upcoming events to club and student achievements, and aid in planning for school activities. The club plans on bringing the school together by increasing school spirit through student contribution.
After all, Town Hall isn’t just a place for student discussion, it’s a place where students can champion the topics they’re passionate about. Sophomore Kahini Gandhi (‘28) urges students to “advocate for [the] change you want to see,” stating that the Town Hall will “help amplify your voice to reach the ears of the people who can make those changes.”
In Town Hall lies a chance to not only impact the school environment, but to also connect with fellow students throughout the entire school and gain invaluable leadership experience. The next meeting on October 28th, hosted in the auditorium, is the perfect chance for any student who wants to get involved with planning, leading, and mapping change for Wissahickon High School.
